1. Introduction
RightSplit ("we", "our", "the App") is an expense-splitting application built by Shubh and Honey. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the App.
2. Information We Collect
Account Information
–Email address (used for authentication and invitations)
–Name (displayed to group members)
–Profile image or emoji avatar (optional)
–Password (stored securely using PBKDF2-SHA256 hashing with 100,000 iterations)
Expense & Financial Data
–Group names, descriptions, and settings
–Expense descriptions, amounts, and split details
–Settlement and payment records between members
Usage & Technical Data
–Session information (IP address and user agent for security purposes)
–Activity logs (expense creation, invitations, settlements)
3. How We Use Your Information
–To provide the core service: creating groups, tracking expenses, and calculating balances
–To authenticate your identity and secure your account
–To send OTP codes for email verification and password resets
–To send group invitations on your behalf to email addresses you provide
–To convert currencies using third-party exchange rate data
4. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services to operate the App:
–Supabase — database hosting for storing your account and expense data
–Cloudflare Workers — hosts our backend API
–RevenueCat — manages premium in-app purchases (receives your anonymous user ID)
–Open Exchange Rates API — provides currency conversion rates (no user data is shared)
–Gmail API — sends OTP verification emails and group invitation emails
5. Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored in a PostgreSQL database hosted on Supabase. Passwords are hashed using PBKDF2-SHA256 with a unique salt per user — we never store plaintext passwords.
Session tokens are stored securely on your device using Expo SecureStore. All communication between the App and our servers is encrypted via HTTPS.
6. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. Your expense data is only visible to members of the groups you belong to. We share data with third parties only as described in Section 4 and only to the extent necessary to operate the service.
When you invite someone to a group, their email address is used solely to send the invitation. If they do not sign up, we do not retain their email beyond the invitation expiry period (7 days).
7. Data Retention
We retain your account data and expense history for as long as your account is active. If you wish to delete your account and all associated data, contact us at rightsplit5@gmail.com and we will process your request within 30 days.
8. Your Rights
You have the right to:
–Request access to the personal data we hold about you
–Request correction of inaccurate data
–Request deletion of your account and data
–Export your expense data

9. Children's Privacy
RightSplit is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes through the App or via email. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
